Hard to believe this time last week Castlemaine was flooded in parts. No rain since then, just lots of sun — the tracks and trails are dusting up already, you’d never know it had rained at all. (more…)
It ‘s not hard to sometimes get disorientated when riding in new areas — especially on trails that continually loop back and forth, round and round, through bush gullies that all start to look the same after a while. (more…)

You’re feeling flat and head out for an easy spin but for some reason decide to take an unknown trail which you think is probably just a short connector but instead turns out to be hours of mysterious, enjoyable single track which takes you further and further away from anything recognizable. Don’t need to ride many Central Victorian trails before you come across super tight corners, switchbacks or u turns, sometimes lots of them, strung together one after another. Whatever you call them, whether climbing or descending they can be tricky little suckers to negotiate. All of the sudden the wheelbase of your MTB starts to feel like a semi trailer. (more…)
Had a sweet late afternoon/early evening ride out Baco — so many trails, the more you ride the more you find, great fun piecing it all together. It was a treat to be out so late in the bush, as usually with my early morning shifts I’m off to bed early but with time off over Xmas I’ve been living it up 🙂 (more…)
