All Mountain Versatility
Less than Downhill, more than XC – not really a great description of All Mountain imo but one that seems to pop up often in MTB forums. (more…)

The changes I made to the bike the other day felt great again during today’s ride so I reckon I’m onto something. Just goes to show don’t mess with the groove as even a few mm in the wrong direction can mess things up. With my weight a little further back again it’s probably a good time to recheck the sag in the rear shock, especially since the weight I usually carry in the backpack has increased too. As it was the Mojo did feel super plush today and while it might not be great riding technique it can be a lot of fun to roll your weight back on the rear of the saddle and go along for the ride, cruiser style. I haven’t been in the groove much lately, not sure exactly why though a lot of life stuff has been going on. The groove is a funny thing. When you’re in it the ride has an effortless, almost slow motion flow. Blissful, relaxed speed — lost in the rush of moving forward as they say. Smokey skies lately with fuel reduction burns underway across Central Victoria, including the bush on the outskirts of Castlemaine. I headed over on the Mojo to check it out as it’s an area I ride through often. (more…)
The Clock2Clock Challenge was held at Woodend last weekend. Prior to the event there were regular rides of the course creating some buzz online about… The Chute. Julien and I headed to Woodend the other day, the general idea being to eat some of Bourkies Vanilla Slice, ride some or all of the Clock2Clock course, and experience The Chute for ourselves. (more…)
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been in the groove, I think mainly due to a crash I had back in mid January where I smacked the left side of my head and left shoulder heavily into a tree. My neck has felt like a messed up pile of square ball bearings ever since and my head progressively duller, foggier, achier, slower. Heart says ride but the only thing high on the body’s To Do list is lying down with eyes closed. (more…)
Headed out with Hozza for another night adventure, this time to a steep gully crossing that finds its way into most of my rides. (more…)
