With the run of exceptionally hot Summer weather and everything else that’s been going over the holiday period on I reckon I’ve spent more time riding during the night vs day. An average Summer night around here is 20 degrees or less – throw on some lights and it’s a great alternative to riding in the heat of the day. (more…)

Spring Warmth

Gotta admit… it feels better than ever to feel the warmth of the Spring sun! A run of sunny days is just what the doctor ordered to help send a lingering respiratory infection on its way. I hadn’t ridden the local trails since before heading off to Melrose close to a month ago, so it felt weird and new all over again riding around today. (more…)

Woodbrook MTB Trail

With the sun shining and the local trails almost back to being dry, but rain forecast for the next couple of days there was an opportunity to good to miss today to check out the new ‘Woodbrook’ MTB trail made up of a mix of old, new and brand spanking new trails. I’ve had a touch of the flu but figured if it got worse, well with the rain I probably wouldn’t be riding much in the next couple of days anyway! (more…)

Bush Pig

Generally I don’t set out to ride in the rain or on muddy trails. It’s not really about wrecking the local trails as for the most part they are insanely robust and as close to mud free as you can get. It’s more to do with trashing the bike unnecessarily – why not save yourself the cost and hassle and do something else until the weather clears? That’s the theory anyway. (more…)

Mt Lofty, Redesdale

It’s been a while since I’ve ridden at Mt Lofty, Redesdale which is a bit slack TBH. It’s only 30 or so kilometres from Castlemaine but we’re kinda spoilt with local trails at our doorstep. Riding new or at least less familiar trails is great fun though so with a round of the InterWinter series held at Redesdale over the weekend and a few days of wet weather coming up it was a good opportunity to sneak in a visit to Mt Lofty.
