It’s been a while since I’ve ridden at Mt Lofty, Redesdale which is a bit slack TBH. It’s only 30 or so kilometres from Castlemaine but we’re kinda spoilt with local trails at our doorstep. Riding new or at least less familiar trails is great fun though so with a round of the InterWinter series held at Redesdale over the weekend and a few days of wet weather coming up it was a good opportunity to sneak in a visit to Mt Lofty.

The well worn line created by the InterWinter race made the trails around Mt Lofty much easier to navigate. Compared to Castlemaine a reasonable amount of rain had fallen at Redesdale making conditions surprisingly slick and slippery in parts. It’s a great fun loop though – an alternating mix of fire trail and single track, starting off tight and twisty and tight lower down on Mt Lofty before moving up higher and becoming rockier, then ending off with some faster, more open sections of trail.

The single track in the latter half of the Redesdale loop reminded me of sections of trails at Melrose which is kinda nice. I miss Melrose! 🙂
