Another favorite ride of mine is the Trailer Track Loop – a fun mix of dirt road, fire trails, bush and single track, climbs and descents in the Wombat Forest, Victoria Australia. The highlight is the descent down to the Loddon River on the Trailer Track which drops down through the bush to the river, trees backlit by the low sun in the west, with the hill progressively getting steeper and steeper. Had a fun ride today, and my first riding with another unicyclist. I met up with Matt at the Castlemaine Railway Station in the morning and we headed out to Maldon on the back roads, via Muckleford and Walmer. After a coffee in Maldon we headed up Mt Tarrengower. Matt made it to the top, I piked out half way, my 137’s didn’t have the cranking power and neither did I on the day. I’ll have to return with 150’s for another attempt! (more…)
6 Hours of your own Amazing Race! I’ve been looking forward to the Cyclic Navigator, a 6 hour MTB Orienteering style event where the aim is to reach as many control points hidden in the forest as you can within the time available, all the while riding the route of your choice. (more…)
I’ve been loving cruising the tracks and trails in the Wombat State Forest on my KH36 – the speed and smooth rolling of the big wheel is a blast off road. It’s amazing the off road terrain you can cover with 125 cranks – I guess the lack of control is offset by the speed!

Wasn’t too keen on getting out of bed at 5.00am, but am glad I did! Along with over 16,000 cyclists and one other unicyclist I participated in the annual Around the Bay in a Day ride in Melbourne. (more…)
