Wombat Trail: Quest for the Vanilla Slice

Headed down early in the morning from Castlemaine with Julien to ride the Wombat Trail at Woodend before the forecast 35-40 degree heat kicked in.

Mojo Rising

I couldn’t get organized in time to join the Rocky Riders Australia Day ride yesterday morning but headed out later anyway hoping to cross paths with the group somewhere along the way. It wasn’t to be but no worries it was a good ride anyway, ~30km of single track.

Snakes and Spiders

Hard to believe this time last week Castlemaine was flooded in parts. No rain since then, just lots of sun — the tracks and trails are dusting up already, you’d never know it had rained at all.

Mapping Fire Tracks

It ‘s not hard to sometimes get disorientated when riding in new areas — especially on trails that continually loop back and forth, round and round, through bush gullies that all start to look the same after a while.

Just like Yoda Says

Do or do not, there is no try. This rocky line has caught me out before… I choke way too easily sometimes.

Mojo Cleansing

Forget about cleansing your aura and stuff like that, nothing beats a Mojo cleansing!

You know it’s a good ride when

You’re feeling flat and head out for an easy spin but for some reason decide to take an unknown trail which you think is probably just a short connector but instead turns out to be hours of mysterious, enjoyable single track which takes you further and further away from anything recognizable.

New Year’s Roast

With all the rain and cool weather over the last couple of months you’d reckon Summer had taken an end of 2010 sickie. Well up until today anyway. New Years eve and  a wild and windy ~40 degree celcius summer day. Phew!
