Water fall

Almost ended up in the drink today! The trail drops down into a gully, crossing the top of a small seasonal waterfall. After rain the wet slimey rocks at the top of the ledge can get MEGA slippery and while it’s only a very short section the trail runs within a few inches of the edge. (more…)

Edge of the Burbs

I reckon there’s an invisible line you cross during every ride, where the toil and trouble of the day ceases to exist and the adventure begins. For me that line is often located somewhere around the Edge of the Burbs which fortunately is only a minute or two’s ride from where we live. From that point on it’s all bush and trails. (more…)

Skid Marks

Lying in bed last night listening to the howling winds and teeming rain I thought dang you’ve really gotta love riding in the bush to plan a 20-30km single track ride when the forecast includes sleet, hail, storms, strong winds with a cosey temperature around ride time of 6 degrees to top it off.  Either that or you’re just plain NUTS. Fryers Ridge

As opportunity allows I’ve been slowly exploring the Fryers Ridge State Forest, home to the Hippie Track and other goodies. I figured a ride to the fire lookout tower was a good place to start as it’s key landmark perched on the ridge looking over the forest and in theory it’s all downhill from here (yeah right!).
