I met up with Eric the Red and we headed out on our 29’ers to ride the Browns Gully section of the Great Dividing Trail. The return of cold Winter weather dampened our enthusiasm initially, but it turned out to be a great day for riding. (more…)

It’s taken a while but I’ve finally gathered a decent collection of learner uni’s to use in schools and community unicycling sessions. I think it’s important to offer a range of wheel sizes when running unicycle sessions, not just to cater for the wide range of ages (from 5 upwards) of people learning but also to give people who can ride the opportunity to try out different size uni’s they might not otherwise. It takes some convincing to head out for an off road ride in cold Winter rain but after the first few minutes you realize it’s well and truly worth it. Riding off road in the rain is great fun, equal parts peaceful and crazy slippery. Plus how else can you test if a new mudguard works? With the Topeak Defender M2 fitted to my KH 29’er I headed out into the forest, onto a loop I know from experience puddles up well. (more…)
Unicycling with the kids in years 3 through to 6 is going great! The kids have shown loads of enthusiasm and determination and are well on their way to unicycling off into the sunset 🙂

The KH24″ ride last week got me all hot and sweaty — for more technical small wheel riding. I headed back to Twin Bridges in cold Autumn rain with my KH20″ to start working on the ‘Winter Steps Challenge’. By the end of Winter the aim is to be able to ride up and down all sets of steps on the Twin Bridges trail on as many wheel sizes as possible. (more…)
