I had a few things to do in Woodend so took the 24 GUni along to ride the local Wombat MTB Trail. Good timing too as today was the last opportunity to squeeze in a longer ride before the Cyclic Navigator on the weekend, and the weather today was much hotter than the excellent cool conditions forecast for the day of the event. Felt pretty good today so decided to make use of the cooler weather and head over to Black Forest with the 24″ GUni. I’ve ridden the trails there on a 36’er, 29’er and single speed 24 so was interested to see how it would be on the 24 GUni. (more…)
Uni rides have been replaced with swimming the last week – partly due to the record breaking heat for this time of year, but also to help my leg heal. The swimming has worked magic, and with this year’s 6 hour Cyclic Navigator only a couple of weeks away I definitely need to squeeze in a few hours on the uni. (more…)
Lulu aka Uni Bitch and I headed down to the local reserve first thing this morning. I woke up with some new and improved soreness from yesterday’s effort so a super light and easy ride was the plan including soaking in the Loddon river. (more…)
Finally… time to get back on the uni, WOOHOO! My lower leg/ankle/foot is still quite tender and swollen but nothing like it was, I guess it’s ~75% working. Maybe a light short ride would help get it moving again, and regardless it would be great for the mind and spirit to get back out into the forest. (more…)
To help minimize the late afternoon jet lag like feeling due to getting up for work at 3.40am I squeezed in a mid afternoon MUni ride along Flume Track before doing the school run. I’d often passed the entry sign but never ridden it and had hoped the trail would be an easy ride suitable for the local uni kids as it’s only a few minutes from their school. (more…)
Like many other families who live in the Victorian bush we left home several times due to bushfire during summer 2009. The most significant in our region was the Muskvale Hogans Road fire which was spotting only a short distance from home prior to a wind change. (more…)
