Had a short but exciting ride today looping between Twin Bridges and Tipperary Springs. Lots of great single track, ultra narrow in places, sometimes with sheer rock wall on the hillside, sometimes with a big drop on the other, sometimes both! The single track also drops in and out of an old water race from the gold mining days. (more…)
Had a fun MUni today at Breakneck Gorge near Hepburn Springs, on a section of trail that links the natural mineral springs in the area. The gorge is a great place for MUni – super narrow trails cut into surrounding hillside, lots of steep up and down, rocky, and big drops beside the trail into the gorge. The 6 hour Cyclic Navigator again proved to be an epic uni challenge. Storms in the 24 hours leading up the event combined with freezing wind and rain on the day turned trails into streams and made for super slippery testing conditions anywhere off the dirt roads. (more…)
I had a few things to do in Woodend so took the 24 GUni along to ride the local Wombat MTB Trail. Good timing too as today was the last opportunity to squeeze in a longer ride before the Cyclic Navigator on the weekend, and the weather today was much hotter than the excellent cool conditions forecast for the day of the event.
