SRAM XX1 1X11 Speed Drivetrain

I have really enjoyed running 1×10 for the last 18 months or so. Sometimes just a little more at either end would be handy, you know a little more spin at the low end for easier control of power going up steep, slow, loose, tight climbs, and a little more speed at the high end for those times you spin out. No biggie though as everything is a compromise and overall I’m lovin my 1×10 drivetrain – and with the combo of the XTR shifter and XTR Shadown Plus mech it runs sweet as. (more…)

Gotta Ride This @ Melrose MTB Trails

Melrose in South Australia is one of those places but when you arrive there for the first time it’s a bit like being a kid in a candy store – all that sweet mountain bike MTB trail but no idea of where to start and how to piece it together. Over the course of this year’s Fat Tire Festival probably the most fun run I found is shown below. Starting from the campground it’s one scenic, enjoyable climb to the highest point on Hellrose followed by a fun descent, 2/3 of which was part of the Mini-D time trial course. (more…)

Melrose Fat Tyre Festival 2012

Peace, love and mountain bikes. The Fat Tyre Festival at Melrose has been on my MTB Bucket List for years. FINALLY, AMAZINGLY, UNBELIEVABLY after a wee 12 1/2 hour drive over from Central Victoria I found myself wheeling down Dodging Bullets trail at Melrose late on the Friday afternoon of the festival with Shaz and Steve. Topeak Prepstand Race

After all these years I finally got a decent home workstand. I needed a stand that would work well with the Mojo HD’s irregular frame shape and not hang the bike off the seat post – something of a no-no with a dropper post like the Reverb. The Topeak Prepstand Race has been great. It’s well made, sets up in no time and makes the bike easy to work on. A definite upgrade from balancing stuff against walls and posts! (more…)
