About 18 months ago a fuel reduction burn got a little out of hand and scorched a favorite section of bush. Since then the wildlife has slowly returned as things start to grow back. I saw the first koala since the burn the other day, down low in a tree right beside the singletrack. Nice! Here’s a snap taken of the drop bear with the phone. (more…)
What a great day the inaugural Goldfields Steam Train Challenge AKA Race the Train turned out to be! Cyclists could opt to ‘Race’ the train on the dirt trails that run beside the railway from Castlemaine to Maldon, or join in the social ‘Ride’ back from Maldon to Castlemaine. (more…)
Light rain overnight followed by a sunny, breezy day meant that by mid afternoon the fresh connector trail was in prime condition for some packing down Mojo HD style. I spent an hour and a half trucking back and forth over the tacky trail packing down the ride line. Lots of fun, and hardly a speck of mud! (more…)

I spent a couple of hours late in the day digging a little trail down an eroded gully. It might not be the Grand Canyon but it’s still a pretty cool setting. I’ve often walked along it and wondered what it would be like to ride it. Turns out it’s good fun. I went back in the evening to check it out and snapped a couple of spooky pics, thanks to the Exposure Flare red tail light illuminating the gully walls. (more…)
