I guess not riding much lately can only lead to one thing… spending too much time online watching bike videos and reading about bike stuff, which leads to obsessing about upgrades!

So here is the shortlist of Mojo HD upgrade goodies – not necessarily needed but wanted.Β  The plan is to get my health stuff sorted and have the Mojo HD ready to rock and roll over Summer at a few new riding locations.

2012 XT brakes
Have never really liked the old SLX brakes that came on the bike. The design is clunky, don’t like the feel and action of the levers, and more importantly the performance especially as they heat up just doesn’t do it for me. Ice ice baby tech to the rescue.

Rockshox Reverb
Have been hot and sweaty for a Reverb ever since they were released. The main things putting me off have been the added complexity, both mechanically and aesthetically, and to a far lesser extent the added weight. I’ve gotten over all that and now I just want one. Reckon this is one of those ‘how did I ever get by before I had one’ kinda things. Gotta be close to the top of theΒ  upgrade list for any All Mountain bike.

XTR Shadow plus Rear derailleur
Gotta wonder why it’s taken so long for Shimano or anyone else come up with this one. No doubt will trickle down to lower groupsets next year but I can’t wait that long. The appeal of only having an upper guide and a quiet chain on a 160mm bike is too much. The risk of a branch destroying the derailleur on the first ride and sobbing all the way home is worth taking. I’m going to butcher my MRG G2 to create a custom Mojo upper guide and give this one a go πŸ™‚

Pedals
Not sure yet but probably either XT Trail or XTR Trail. Like the idea of the platform, and one of the pedals on the bike ATM has been banged around enough to not work that well any more.

There’s always the 2012 Kashima RP23 shock, oh and maybe the forks and… you could go on and on, but that’ll about do it I reckon!

  1. I hear you Pete……upgrades are the bain of every riders bank balance and wife/fiance’/partner….Just got a too good to refuse deal on a Triton 36 frame….so now I’m the proud owner of a new titanium 36er frame! Now, should I sell the old KH one, or keep it an build up a single speed 36er as well as my schlumpf….. hmmmmm πŸ™‚ too many choices!

  2. very cool about the Triton dmac!

I’d forgotten how tempting MTB upgrades are, so many more bits and pieces than a uni. In the process of changing jobs so I reckon I deserve a reward… or two! πŸ™‚
