Thanks to Tourism Tasmania’s #tassiestyle promotion we flew down to Melaleuca for a day, including a boat trip out onto Bathurst Harbour.

Tassie’s South West is remote. It’s wilderness in the true sense of the word. Endless rugged mountains, wild coastline, and outside of adventurers and Melalueca residents (population <5) you’re on your own.

We scored a great day to fly down around the southern coastline of Tasmania with Par Avion, explore Bathurst Harbour on a boat, a gourmet lunch of Balmoral Beach, then return flight to Hobart passing directly over the spectacular Arthurs mountain range.

It was awesome seeing Vonnie reconnect with the South West. She’d spent 9 months down that way over a decade ago running kayaking trips. And for me it was an absolute treat to see it all for the first time.

We’re hoping to return to the South West this Summer for a multi day sea kayak adventure. Stay tuned!
