With Pinnacle Road closed again at Bracken Lane due to snow and ice it was time for another sunrise eMTB mission up Mt Wellington.

And what a mission it was!

Ice and moisture beneath the snow made Pinnacle Road super slippery, both riding up and down. The slight camber of the road meant you had to tripod the bike with your legs else it would slip out sideways.

The rain lower down the mountain combined with the wind and icey snow on the summit made for a very wet and cold few hours. Numb fingers and toes much!

It was all worth it though as the top of the Mt Wellington had been transformed into an alien-esque wonderland with huge rime ice formations growing off everything. Spectacular!
