There’s a pretty cool fun event coming up in Central Victoria called ‘Race the Train‘. Cyclists have the opportunity to ride/race alongside the Goldfields Railway Steam Train between the towns of Castlemaine and Maldon.

I first rode out along the Goldfields Railway on my 36″ unicycle as part of Castlemaine’s Festival of the Wheel back in 2008. I’ve ridden out a bunch of times since then on two wheels, to visit folk in Maldon and take in a run or two of the trails on Mt Tarrengower before rolling back to the ‘Maine. It seems kinda fitting to dust off the big unicycle for another spin, but the thing is uni fitness is a lot different to MTB and I haven’t done much unicycling at all for the last few years. Even though it’s a short ride I reckon it’s gonna hurt.
