Mt Victoria hardly rates a mention in any Tassie tourist literature but man oh man, it is one spectacular mountain!
The adventure is made even sweeter by the understated and rarely used hiking trail. From finding the trail entry, to working your way up huge scree slopes you’ve definitely got to keep your eyes open for clues.
The top of the mountain is similar in flavor I guess to Ben Lomond, but smaller. Awesome for exploring. So cool to experience hiking as it used to be on mainland Australia – with elements of risk and exposure. No warning signs, no guide ropes, no mobile service, no nothin. Just a goat track up a mountain.
Just go hike it. Oh and don’t wear shorts like I did. Your shins will get shredded by prickly shrubs. Just sayin! 🙂
