Mt Donaldson is one of those places that for whatever reason worked its way onto my MTB bucket list. Maybe its remote location on Tassie’s West Coast is part of the reason, but regardless it’s definitely a fun adventure ride.

The climb up Mt Donaldson was a bunch of fun on the Cranke eMTB! Starting off in thick forest beside the Savage River before popping out onto open grassy hillsides, it soon became a game of how far up the mountain you could get before dabbing a foot. Electric mountain bikes sure add a whole new level of fun to technical climbing.

Being North West Tassie, the weather can be wild and it definitely was up on the summit when I arrived. After a while though the wind and rain subsided, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the views across the North West before heading down. The descent? Well it is SWEET. Such a great feeling of wide open space and elevation while hooking down a ribbon of sweet, narrow singletrack.

Thanks North West Tassie. That was a HOOT!
