The 1×10 Drivetrain has been chugging along nicely, lots of places where the 36 (on the 11-36) comes in handy, definitely a worthwhile upgrade to the 1×9. The shifting performance is also much improved thanks to XT Dyna-sys, sweet!

Having read and thought about MTB stuff for what seems way too long it’s great to be out there and riding, where the information overload disappears and it’s all about being out there having fun. Current MTB tires are something I definitely read way too much about, the mind boggling infinite combinations of tread, size, compound, riding, trails etc. The Mojo HD came with a Maxxis High Roller 2.5 on the front, and a Maxxis Crossmark 2.25 on the rear, both tubed. Not the lightest of setups by any means, but I’ve been enjoying the big tires, especially the High Roller on the front. Maybe this will change over summer when the tracks dry and dust up, but on the damp trails the High Roller just seems to run on rails. The Crossmark on the rear has been good too – with the almost continuous centre row of knobs it’s not surprising that it rolls along easily. It sometimes seems to lack grip on climbs though and breaks away too readily.

I intend to run both wheels tubeless — both of my Mountain Unicycles are tubeless, love the ride quality and rotating weight savings — just waiting for the next rainy day/spare time.
