I headed back to the MTB trails in Wattle Flat, this time on the 36’er. It’s all fun single track but the section I was looking forward to most was the trail that snakes down a long gully, swooping back and forth into a dry creek bed many times. I’d ridden it on the 24 GUni and was interested to see what it would be like on the 36’er.

With all that momentum the big wheel carried good speed in and out of the creek bed, lots of fun, and rolled smoothly through terrain that would require more caution on the 24 GUni in high gear. With 150’s I would’ve been more in control and had more oomph to slowly grind up the hills when needed, but the 137’s gave the ride that ‘on the edge of disaster’ feeling where you often just have to let it roll – definitely worth it!
