Heading out on an MTB ride from hippie-ville involves crossing up and over a heavily mined bush reserve directly behind our place. It’s a great fun way to start each ride as jetting down the through the bush reserve before briefly entering suburbia reminds me of Batman and Robin leaving the (original) Batcave, with the Batman intro theme playing in my head of course! 😛
So after leaving the Bat Cave in the middle of the day I headed across to the Baco trails. I hadn’t eaten since a light breakfast (DOH!) so not surprisingly felt pretty average as the ride progressed. As a consequence I had a few breaks along the way and took the opportunity to explore some of the unusual things I’d noticed off to the side of the trails on other rides. The weirdest thing was the ruins of bat-cave-esque bush humpy with an eerie vibe, the sort of place you’d find a corpse or two.
In other super hero news, I guess due to the onset of the cold Autumn weather the spiders have finally taken a break from their web building. Over summer there were months of MANY large spiders and layers of web cris-crossing the trails, freshly made every day. If you were the first out on the trail in the morning it didn’t take long before you were covered in spider stuff. Weird too, as sometimes the layers of web were strong enough to noticeably hold you back. With spiders now chilling you can fit under the old webs.
Na na na na na na na na na na na na… BATMAN!
