Catching a glimpse of the Southern Lights AKA Aurora Australis has been on my bucket list for a long time now. Unexpectedly the dark, clear night skies of North East Tassie turned on a show!
Heading up to the Blue Tier from Derby for a night adventure is always something of a lucky dip. A calm, clear night in Derby could just as well be a wild and woolly evening up on the tier. Tonight though I was greeted with a cold, clear night sky on the tier.
Looking to the south from the highest boulder I couldn’t believe what I was seeing – vertical bars of light dancing on the horizon… the Southern Lights!
And within a few minutes they were gone.
