I’ve had my Sam Hill 5.10’s since mid July 2008 and absolutely love them! They are a cool looking shoe but most importantly the grip of the 5.10 ‘Stealth’ sole on steel pedal pins is legendary. The sole is nice and stiff, and the shoe is relatively wide making for an excellent stable platform all up.
I don’t find the 5.10’s especially comfortable as a walking shoe but get on the unicycle and they feel just PERFECT, even more so as time goes on and the shoe continues to shape to my feet.
I chose a low cut 5.10 to have the freedom of movement and feeling of openess around my ankles. I haven’t had any problem with ankle injuries, but I may get a pair of 5.10 Nathan Rennie’s in the future as changing gears on the GUNI does give the ankles a work out.
The Good:
– Insane grip
– Stiff sole
– Fits like a glove
– Durable
– Schmick design
The Not So Good
– Price
– Average ventilation
Be warned: Riding without anything other than 5.10’s doesn’t feel right!
