Our daughter Indi and I hope to do a charity ride in October so thought we’d better start doing some training. The sky was overcast but no sign of the forecast afternoon thunderstorm so we headed down to the bushland reserve behind the Botanic Gardens for spin.

For something different I took the 29’er MUni along. For sure the single speed 29’er is so much lighter compared to the 24″ GUni, and the bigger wheel rolls through terrain much more smoothly but the thing that stood out most initially today (having not ridden the 29’er for several months) is that while you can scoot up hills much faster, to do so you need to put in more effort on the 29’er whereas on the 24″ you can sit there, relax and puddle away slowly uphill and eventually get ‘there’. Funny, but it didn’t take long to get into the groove.

Indi kicked my butt along the smooth flat sections which was great fun, and followed by Yum Cha, it was a beaut early spring afternoon.
