Double Shot Saturday

The most important part of doing bread runs in the wee hours of the morning would have to be the double shot of espresso, injected directly into my eyeballs at the start of the shift, usually followed up by another double shot after work — then I’m set for the rest of the day. I get out...

Wombat Off Peak

The Wombat MTB Trail on the outskirts of Woodend gets pretty busy during the weekends. I’ve been wanting to get back there since the last Vanilla Slice Quest so thought it would be best to go Wombat Off Peak and headed over late afternoon. During the week you pretty much have the place...

All Mountain Versati...

Less than Downhill, more than XC – not really a great description of All Mountain imo but one that seems to pop up often in MTB forums. For me AM is about the ride — getting out there and having fun in whatever terrain comes your way — more so than downhill and XC which often seem to be...

Autumn Mojo

The changes I made to the bike the other day felt great again during today’s ride so I reckon I’m onto something. Just goes to show don’t mess with the groove as even a few mm in the wrong direction can mess things up. With my weight a little further back again it’s...

Rubber Side Down, Al...

I’d never been to a Formula One race, slack of me I guess as the Albert Park circuit is not much over an hour away by car. (I have ridden a geared unicycle around the circuit though but that’s another story!) With the future of the Australian round in doubt I figured it was time...

Ibis Sighting Downun...

An Ibiroo, a kangabis, or maybe a Mojoey? Keep your eyes peeled, you just never know where the next Ibis sighting down under might be!

Grooving in the ‘Maine

I haven’t been in the groove much lately, not sure exactly why though a lot of life stuff has been going on. The groove is a funny thing. When you’re in it the ride has an effortless, almost slow motion flow. Blissful, relaxed speed — lost in the rush of moving forward as they say. When you’re not in the groove though you’re often just banging around, struggling, cursing, locking up, hanging on. Can’t do much about the life stuff going on, but I can tinker with the bike set up. I’d made a few small changes a while back, to the saddle position and headset spacers in an attempt to sharpen things up a little...

We Came, We Saw, We ...

As if Silly Old Man wasn’t enough… We Came, We Saw, We ate Ham — a lucid view of life in the thriving Baco’ metropolis of Castlemaine. Bon...

Silly Old Man

It takes gobs of energy and focus to remain a silly old man. Luckily these very things and then some are woven into the fabric of the hoody that arrived in the mail the other day, thanks to Ibis. The graffiti only lasted a couple of days, painted over in dull...
